No BBQ but a new breast pump.

Katy has been very stable today.

No time off CPAP, but we spoke to a doc this morning and they want Katy to "recruit alvioli". What this means is, when she is having CPAP pressure, more and more air sacs are being inflated in her lungs. When she comes off CPAP, some of the air sacs collapse. One of my favorite science demos is inflating sheep's lungs and this provides a good, albeit gory, analogy. I have to blow about 10 times to get the lungs fully inflated then when I stop blowing, they collapse.

We stayed later today, only just got home in time for the apprentice, so there was no time for a BBQ. However, we did get given a funky, silent, breast pump by the hospital. No buzzing, just the sound of milk spray on plastic. Bliss.

Wil try to put some photos up tomorrow, plus a web album of the snaps I just sent off to be printed.

Oh! The joys of breast pumps!

I'm glad to hear everything seems to be settling down. It must be hard to adjust to another hospital's way of doing things but at least Katy is closer now.

I have a feeling that each time I do that lung demo in future, I'll be thinking of katy now! I ike the idea of recruiting alveoli...it sounds like a military operation! Hope it all helps to strengthen her breathing..

Brilliant weight gain!
