Weighty Katy 4.0

What a great weekend!!!
Katy is now over 3lb. Weighing in at 1.38Kg. She has been put on nasal oxygen (see 4th pic) and has been taking a complete feed from a bottle (see 2nd pic). We have been visited by two aunties; Catherine and Lois and we were cooked a delicious meal by James and Sarah.
Katy is on 0.02litres of oxygen per minute which is only a tiny puff and 0.01 is the lowest she can go so she is nearly off extra oxygen. She is taking a lot of feeds from the bottle and a little from Leanne. Feeding and breathing without support are two massive steps towards coming home, so well done Katy.
Sorry that my blog updates have reduced in frequency, but I promise that you will be the first to know any important news.

Oh what lovely pics!

Katy looks a bit grumpy in the first one, but very happy in the third - she even looks like she is posing for the camera, with her arm up behind her head.

another wonderful set of pictures! thanks very much, now downloaded onto mobile to show everyone who isn't following the blog. Someone asked after Katy's aunt and her TV appearance of five years ago today so I expect questions about Katy and her wellbeing for many years to come!

My daughter Alice wen thru a similar start in life: born 3 month early, 1100g down to 1000g. She was 3 month in the hospital, and was weak for the first year, with some stomach problem.

She is now 5, a bit above the median weight, alive and well, had no further illness beyond coqueluche (is that small pox ?). She beats all her classmates and most adults at "memory" card games, her favorite.

[since France has extensive public health coverage, the first 3 month in the neonatal hospital did not cost a thing (or did I have to pay a small comensation for the baby food ?)]
